Prophets(Aliahi Salam) are Sinless

Let us see the Tafsir of the aayat “17:39”

[Tafsir Ibn Kathir

Allah says: `What We have commanded you to do is part of good manners, and what We have forbidden you are evil qualities. We have revealed this to you, O Muhammad, so that you may command the people likewise.’

﴿وَلاَ تَجْعَلْ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَـهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتُلْقَى فِى جَهَنَّمَ مَلُومًا﴾

(And set not up with Allah any other god lest you should be thrown into Hell, blameworthy) meaning, your own self will blame you, as will Allah and His creation.

﴿مَّدْحُورًا﴾

(rejected) means far removed from everything good. Ibn `Abbas and Qatadah said: “(It means) cast out.” This is an address to the Ummah via the Messenger , for he is infallible.(Sinless)

Volume: 6, Book Number: 60, Hadith Number: 360

Volume: 6, Book Number: 60, Hadith Number: 361

Narrated Aisha: The Prophet used to offer prayer at night (for such a long time) that his feet used to crack. I said, “O Allah’s Apostle! Why do you do it since Allah has forgiven you your faults of the past and those to follow?” He said, “Shouldn’t I love to be a thankful slave (of Allah)?’ When he became old, he prayed while sitting, but if he wanted to perform a bowing, he wound get up, recite (some other verses) and then perform the bowing.

ALLAH AND HIS PROPHET (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) KNOW THE BEST!

Sahaba used this phrase very often

In my view it is perfectly legal to use this phrase as it was frequently used by the companions of the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم). This phrase has been used at least several dozens of times in Bukhari and Muslim alone. In fact in the very first Hadith of Muslim, Hazrat Umar (RA) used this phrase.

Here are some examples from Bukhari only:

1. They (i.e. the delegate from the tribe of Rabi’a) said, “Allah and His Apostle know best.” (Bukhari 9 : 91 : 371)

2. On that ‘Umar wept and said, “Allah and His Apostle know best.” (Bukhari 8 : 74 : 276)

3. On that, ‘Umar’s eyes became flooded with tears and he said, “Allah and His Apostle know best. (Bukhari 9 : 84 : 72)

4. I (i.e. Mu’adh bin Jabal) replied, “Allah and His Apostle know best.” (Bukhari 7 : 72 : 850)

5. Abu Talha said, “O Um Sulaim! Allah’s Apostle has come and we have no food to feed them.” Um Sulaim said, “Allah and His Apostle know best.” So Abu Talha went out (to receive them) till he met Allah’s Apostle. (Bukhari 8 : 78 : 679)

6. I (i.e. Mu’adh bin Jabal replied, “Allah and His Apostle know best.” The Prophet said, “Not to punish them (if they do so).” (Bukhari 9 : 93 : 470)

7. Narrated Abu Dharr: I entered the mosque while Allah’s Apostle was sitting there. When the sun had set, the Prophet said, “O Abu Dharr! Do you know where this (sun) goes?” I said, “Allah and His Apostle know best.” (Bukhari 9 : 93 : 520)

8. Later I (i.e. Umar bin Al-Khattab) was astonished at my daring to speak like that to Allah’s Apostle and Allah and His Apostle know best. (Bukhari 6 : 60 : 193 )

9. Once I was with the Prophet in the mosque at the time of sunset. The Prophet said, “O Abu Dharr! Do you know where the sun sets?” I (Abu Dharr) replied, “Allah and His Apostle know best.(Bukhari 6 : 60 : 326)

Should we use the word “know” or “knew”?

Some members have suggested that as Allah’s Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) is no longer with us so we should use the word “knew” for him. This however is not required. The Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) is alive in his grave (as is the aqida of Ahl-us-Sunnah including the Deobandi school). But even if someone does not believe in this (as perhaps Salafis don’t believe it) even then they believe him to be alive in Barzakh. In any case he is alive and there is no assumption that his knowledge has been taken away from him. What ever he knew then (in Sahaba’s time) he must be knowing it now. So there is no need to replace the word “know” with “knew”.

Is this phrase a comparison between Allah and His Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم)?

Some one will say whether this phrase constitutes a comparison between Allah and His Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم). Certainly not! This is a common misconception that many people have. No creation, including the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم), can be compared with the Creator. So even in such phrases (where a conjunction of “and” is used between them) there is no comparison.

This phrase DOES NOT mean that the knowledge of Allah and His Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) is equal in any sense (Na Uzu Billah). According to my knowledge it is no one’s aqida (including Brailvis). We can use the same word for Allah and His creation though the meanings of the same word would be different when used in the context of creation or The Creator. So, the phrase “knows best” when used for Allah is in different meaning and when used for the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) is in different meaning.

In fact Ibn-e-Taymiya has enumerated a long list of words which are originally the names of Allah but are also used for His Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) (even without conjunction).

If you are still unsure, I can quote examples from Quran to illustrate my point.

Joining names of Allah and His Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) in the light of Quran

Someone said that he would prefer not to use this phrase in conjunction with Allah. One must see that our whole Deen is based on the use of such conjunctions. When someone gives Shahada (to enter in Islam), he uses these names in conjunction. These 2 names come side by side in first Kalama, azan, prayer and almost every important Islamic proclamation.

Similarly there are numerous verses of Quran where Allah has put his name along with His Messenger (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم). I am providing a few examples of such usage from Quran (though the actual number is much more than that). You are requested to see the variety of situations in which such conjunction has been used (I have quoted only one example for one situation/context):

1 Aid: … and aiding Allah and His Messenger: such are indeed the sincere ones… (059:008)

37 Will observe: … It is your actions that Allah and His Messenger will observe… (009:094)

In a nutshell

1. If we join the names of Allah and His Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) in one phrase, there is no comparison intended between the two. The Creator is not comparable to ANY of His creations.

2. Quran has joined the names of Allah and His Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) in dozens of different senses at (probably) hundreds of places. This kind of joining pleases Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala because He has joined these names in Shahada, first kalama, azan, prayer and other such places.

AND ALLAH AND HIS PROPHET (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) KNOW THE BEST!

I am Junub and there is no water.” The Prophet said, “Perform Tayammum with clean earth and that will be sufficient for you.”

Truthful Jokes of Prophet Muhammad(Peace be Upon Him)

Prophet(salallaho alaihi wasalam) was the most humble of people, He said many times that he did not want to give sermons all the times so that his companions were not bored.. at times he joked with his companions aswell, however the beautiful jokes of Prophet(salallaho alaihi wasalam) had moral lessons for us and he never lied even when he jested

Chapter 035, Hadith Number 004 (228).(Tirimdhi)

Anas ibn Malik (Allah be pleased with him) relates that a person requested Rasoolullah (Allah bless him and give him peace) that he be given a conveyance. Rasoolullah (Allah bless him and give him peace) replied, The baby of a camel shall be given to you.The person said, What shall I do with the baby of a camel O’ Messenger of Allah? (I want one for a conveyance). Rasoolullah (Allah bless him and give him peace) replied, Every camel is the baby of a camel.

Chapter 035, Hadith Number 006(Tirimdhi)

Hasan Basri (Allah be pleased with him) says that an old woman came to Rasoolullah (Allah bless him and give him peace) and made a request, O’ Messenger of Allah make Dua that Allah grants me entrance into Jannah. Rasoolullah (Allah bless him and give him peace) replied, O’ Mother, an old woman cannot enter Jannah. That woman started crying and began to leave. Rasoolullah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, Say to the woman that one will not enter in a state of old age, but Allah will make all the women of Jannah young virgins. Allah Ta’aala says, Lo! We have created them a (new) creation and made them virgins, lovers, equal in age. (Surah Waaqi’ah, 35-37).

Subhan ALLAH, May our parents be sacrificed on the Prophet (salallaho alaihi wasalam), he always had some surprise packages for his companions, May ALLAH also give us shaf’a by the hands of Prophet(saw) and may we drink from his fount on the day of Resurrection

Beard (Islamic Perspective)

June 22, 2010 1 comment

According to my limited knowledge keeping beard is Wajib whereas to let it be is Sunnah, because on many occasions the Prophet (Peace be upon him) has himself ordered to trim beards of Sahaba (i.e. It is proven from Marfu ahadith to trim the beard) and sahaba have done it on their own too (i.e. It is proven from Mawquf ahadith too)

Hadith #1

Book 002, Number 0498: (Sahih Muslim)

Ibn Umar said: The Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Trim closely the moustache, and let the beard grow.

Hadith # 2

Book 002, Number 0500: (Sahih Muslim)

Ibn Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be opon him) said: Act against the polytheists, trim closely the moustache and grow beard.

However in other ahadith the Prophet (Peace be upon him) did not like “outrageous beards” and told to groom it

Hadith # 3

Book 51, Number 51.2.7: (Muwatta Imam Malik)

Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam that Ata ibn Yasar told him that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was in the mosque when a man came in with dishevelled hair and beard. The Messenger of Allah. may Allah bless him and grant him peace, motioned with his hand that he should be sent out to groom his hair and beard. The man did so and then returned. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “Isn’t this better than that one of you should come with his head dishevelled, as if he were a shaytan?”

So Let it Be as taught in many other ahadith is understood by the condition that one does not look notorious and the beard does not grow wild

Hadith #4

Book 20, Number 20.59.199:(Muwatta)

Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that when Salim ibn Abdullah intended to go into ihram he would call for some scissors and trim his moustache and beard before setting off and before going into ihram.

Hadith #5

Book 20, Number 20.59.196: (Muwatta)

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar used to trim his beard and moustache when he shaved at the end of a hajj or umra.

___

The condition of not resembling the Mushrikeen would be met by keeping beard which is not a stubble but decent sized, some people are very rigid in this regard and compare other Muslims to polytheists but we know that today even hardcore priests, Hindu Pandits, Orthodox Jews have long beards.

According to strict opinion in Hanafi school “IT IS WAJIB” to keep atleast a “Fistful” beard, more than that is also fair.

According to Imam Shafi’i (rah) keeping beard is necessary , whereas later scholars like Imam Ibn hajr al Haythami they consider it “disliked” to cut or trim the beard.

According to Hanbli school beard is to be left.

According to Maliki school the opinion is what is mentioned in Muwatta Imam Malik as was shown above.

May Allah forgive me if I made any mistakes, I am not an authority, therefore people following sounder opinion would be more correct in this regard.

Islamic Manners

Islamic Manners

Note: All of these Ahadith are taken from Bukhari.

Appreciation of Good Manners

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that Allah’s Apostle (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) said, ‘The best among you are those who have the best manners and character.‘  (Volume: 8, Book Number: 73, Hadith Number: 56)

Talk good or keep quite

Hazrat Abu Huraira (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that Allah’s Apostle (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) said, “Anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good or keep quite (i.e. abstain from all kinds of dirty and evil talks).” (Volume: 8, Book Number: 73, Hadith Number: 48

Calling names to a Muslim

Hazrat Abdullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that Allah’s Apostle (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) said, “Abusing a Muslim is Fusuq (i.e., an evil-doing), and killing him is Kufr (disbelief).” (Volume: 8, Book Number: 73, Hadith Number: 70)

Hazrat Abu Dhar (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that he heard the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) saying, “If somebody accuses another of Fusuq (by calling him ‘Fasiq’ i.e. a wicked person) or accuses him of Kufr, such an accusation will revert to him (i.e. the accuser) if his companion (the accused) is innocent.(Volume: 8, Book Number: 73, Hadith Number: 71)

Avoiding from abuse

1. Hazrat Anas bin Malik (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) was not one who would abuse (others) or say obscene words, or curse (others). (Volume: 8, Book Number: 73, Hadith Number: 58)

How to admonish others?

2. Hazrat Anas bin Malik (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that if the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) wanted to admonish anyone of us, he used to say: “What is wrong with him, his forehead be dusted!” (Book #73, Hadith #58)

Talking to a person whom you dislike

3. Hazrat Aisha (رضی اللہ عنھا) narrates that a man asked permission to enter upon the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم). When the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) saw him, he said, “What an evil brother of his tribe! And what an evil son of his tribe!” When that man sat down, the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) behaved with him in a nice and polite manner and was completely at ease with him. When that person had left, Hazrat Aisha (رضی اللہ عنھا) said (to the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم). “O Allah’s Apostle! When you saw that man, you said so-and-so about him, then you showed him a kind and polite behavior, and you enjoyed his company?” Allah’s Apostle (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) said, “O ‘Aisha! Have you ever seen me speaking a bad and dirty language? (Remember that) the worst people in Allah’s sight on the Day of Resurrection will be those whom the people leave (undisturbed) to be away from their evil (deeds).” (Volume: 8, Book Number: 73, Hadith Number: 59o)

If someone prays bad for you

Hazrat Aisha (رضی اللہ عنھا) narrates that a group of Jews entered upon the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) and said, “As-Samu-Alaikum.” (i.e. death be upon you). I understood it and said, “Wa-Alaikum As-Samu wal-la’n. (death and the curse of Allah be Upon you).” Allah’s Apostle (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) said “Be calm, O Aisha! Allah loves that on, should be kind and lenient in all matters.” I said, “O Allah’s Apostle! Haven’t you heard what they (the Jews) have said?” Allah’s Apostle (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) said “I have (already) said (to them) “And upon you!” (Volume: 8, Book Number: 73, Hadith Number: 53)

If someone makes a mistake in front of you

Hazrat Anas bin Malik (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that a bedouin urinated in the mosque and the people ran to (beat) him. Allah’s Apostle (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) said, “Do not interrupt his urination (i.e. let him finish).” Then the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) asked for a tumbler of water and poured the water over the place of urine. (Volume: 8, Book Number: 73, Hadith Number: 54)

How to treat your servants?

Hazrat Anas (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates: I served the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) for ten years, and he never said to me, “Uf” (a minor harsh word denoting impatience) and never blamed me by saying, “Why did you do so or why didn’t you do so?” (Volume: 8, Book Number: 73, Hadith Number: 64)
.

Muslims are like one body – every part feels other’s pain
1. Hazrat An-Nu’man bin Bashir (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that Allah’s Apostle (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) said, “You see the believers as regards their being merciful among themselves and showing love among themselves and being kind, resembling one body, so that, if any part of the body is not well then the whole body shares the sleeplessness (insomnia) and fever with it.” (Volume: 8, Book Number: 73, Hadith Number: 40)

2. Hazrat Abu Musa (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) said, “A believer to another believer is like a building whose different parts enforce each other.” (Volume: 3, Book Number: 43, Hadith Number: 626)

Importance of Kinship

3. Hazrat Jubair bin Mut’im (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that he heard the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) saying, “The person who severs the bond of kinship will not enter Paradise.” (Volume: 8, Book Number: 73, Hadith Number: 13)

4. Hazrat Abu Huraira (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that he heard Allah’s Apostle (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) saying, “Who ever is pleased that he be granted more wealth and that his lease of life be pro longed, then he should keep good relations with his Kith and kin.(Book #73, Hadith #14)

What to do when at home?

5. Hazrat Al-Aswad (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that he asked Hazrat Aisha (رضی اللہ عنھا) what did the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) use to do at home. She replied. “He used to keep himself busy serving his family and when it was time for the prayer, he would get up for prayer.(Book #73, Hadith #65)

Tasbeeh e Fatimah (May Allah Be Pleased With Her)

TASBEEH-E-FATIMA

Narated By Abu Huraira : Some poor people came to the Prophet and said, “The wealthy people will get higher grades and will have permanent enjoyment and they pray like us and fast as we do. They have more money by which they perform the Hajj, and ‘Umra; fight and struggle in Allah’s Cause and give in charity.” The Prophet said, “Shall I not tell you a thing upon which if you acted you would catch up with those who have surpassed you? Nobody would overtake you and you would be better than the people amongst whom you live except those who would do the same. Say Sub-han-al-lah”, “Alhamdu-lillah” and “Allahu Akbar” thirty three times each after every (compulsory) prayer.” We differed and some of us said that we should say, “Subhan-al-lah” thirty three times and “Alhamdu lillah” thirty three times and “Allahu Akbar” thirty four times. I went to the Prophet who said, “Say, “Subhan-al-lah” and “Alhamdu lillah” and “Allahu Akbar” all together for thirty three times.”

How to behave with animals & plants?

This is a thread of the GRI (i.e. Golden Islamic Rules) series. More would follow Inshallah.

Islam, the religion of peace, has taught us to behave well even with the animals:

1. Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) narrates that Allah’s Apostle (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) said, “While a man was walking on a road he became very thirsty. Then he came across a well, got down into it, drank (of its water) and then came out. Meanwhile he saw a dog panting and licking mud because of excessive thirst. The man said to himself “This dog is suffering from the same state of thirst as I did.” So he went down the well (again) and filled his shoe (with water) and held it in his mouth and watered the dog. Allah thanked him for that deed and forgave him.” The people asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! Is there a reward for us in serving the animals?” He said, “(Yes) There is a reward for serving any animate (living being).” (Bukhari Vol. 8, Book 73, No. 38)

2. Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) narrates that Allah’s Apostle (SAW) said, “One should not prevent others from watering their animals with the surplus of his water… (Bukhari Vol.9, Book 86, No. 92)

3. Hazrat Ans (RA) narrates that the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) said, “If any Muslim plants any plant and a human being or an animal eats of it, he will be rewarded as if he had given that much in charity.” ( Bukhari Vol. 8, Book 73, No. 41)

4. Hazrat Abu Qatada (RA) narrates: A funeral procession passed by Allah’s Apostle (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلھ وسلم) who said, “Relieved or relieving?” The people asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! What is relieved and relieving?” He said, “A believer is relieved (by death) from the troubles and hardships of the world and leaves for the Mercy of Allah, while (the death of) a wicked person relieves the people, the land, the trees, (and) the animals from him. (Bukhari Vol. 8, Book 76, No. 519)

.
5. Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar: Allah’s Apostle said, A lady was punished because of a cat which she had imprisoned till it died. She entered the (Hell) Fire because of it, for she neither gave it food nor water as she had imprisoned it, nor set it free to eat from the vermin of the earth.” (Bukhari Vol. 4, Book 56, Hadith 689)

6. Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas’ud: We were with the Apostle of Allah (SAW) during a journey. He went to ease himself. We saw a bird with her two young ones and we captured her young ones. The bird came and began to spread its wings. The Apostle of Allah (SAW) came and said: Who grieved this for its young ones? Return its young ones to it. He also saw an ant village that we had burnt. He asked: Who has burnt this? We replied: We. He said: It is not proper to punish with fire except the Lord of fire. (Abu Dawud Book 14, Hadith 2669)

7. Sa’id b. Jubair reported that Ibn ‘Umar happened to pass by some young men of the Quraish who had tied a bird (and made it a target) at which they had been shooting arrows. Every arrow that they missed came into the possession of the owner of the bird. So no sooner did they see Ibn ‘Umar they went away. Thereupon Ibn ‘Umar said: Who has done this? Allah has cursed him who does this.Verily Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) invoked curse upon one who made a live thing the target (of one’s marksmanship).(Muslim Book 21, Hadith 4816)

4. Jabir b. Abdullah reported: Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) visited the orchard of Umm Ma’sud and said: Umm Ma’bad. he who has planted this tree, is he a Muslim or a non-Muslim? She said: Of course, he is a Muslim, whereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said:No Muslim who plants (trees) and from their fruits the human beings or the beasts or birds eat, but that would be taken as an act of charity on the Day of Resurrection. (Muslim Book 10, Hadith 3767)

Dreams (Islamic Perspective)

.
Does the dreams have any importance in Islam?
1. Good Dreams are part of Prophetism:

.
Allah’s Apostle said, “A good dream (that comes true) of a righteous man is one of forty-six parts of prophetism.” (Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 87, No. 112)
.

The Prophet said, “A true good dream is from Allah, and a bad dream is from Satan.”
(Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 87, No. 113)
.

I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, “Nothing is left of the prophetism except Al-Mubashshirat.” They asked, “What are Al-Mubashshirat?” He replied, “The true good dreams (that conveys glad tidings).”
(Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 87, No. 119)
.

2. Seeing the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) in dreams:

The Prophet said, “Whoever has seen me in a dream, then no doubt, he has seen me, for Satan cannot imitate my shape.”
(Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 87, No. 123)
The Prophet said, “Whoever sees me (in a dream) then he indeed has seen the truth.”
(Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 87, No. 125)
.

The Prophet said, “Who ever sees me (in a dream) then he indeed has seen the truth, as Satan cannot appear in my shape.”
(Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 87, No. 126)

Is mentioning dreams a bad thing?
.

1. Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) mentioned his dreams:

.

The Prophet said, “… while I was sleeping last night, the keys of the treasures of the earth were brought to me till they were put in my hand.”
(Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 87, No. 127)
.

Allah’s Apostle said, “I saw myself (in a dream) near the Ka’ba last night, and I saw a man with whitish red complexion …I asked, ‘Who is this man?’ Somebody replied, ‘(He is) Messiah, son of Mary.’ …”
(Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 87, No. 128)
.

Allah’s Apostle … said, “Some of my followers were presented before me in my dream as fighters in Allah’s Cause, sailing in the middle of the seas like kings on the thrones or like kings sitting on their thrones.”
(Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 87, No. 130)
.
Above 3 Ahadith show that Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) used to describe his dreams, or in other words, narrating one’s dreams is the Sunnah of the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم)

.2. Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) asked Sahaba to mention their dreams:

Allah’s Apostle very often used to ask his companions, “Did anyone of you see a dream?” So dreams would be narrated to him by those whom Allah wished to tell.
(Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 87, No. 171)

Above Hadith (alongwith other similar ones) show that the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) used to encourage Sahaba to narrate their dreams.
.

3. Sahaba used to mention their dreams:

Narated By Ibn ‘Umar: Men from the companions of Allah’s Apostle used to see dreams during the lifetime of Allah’s Apostle and they used to narrate those dreams to Allah’s Apostle. Allah’s Apostle would interpret them as Allah wished.
(Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 87, No. 155)

Narated By Ibn ‘Umar: I was a young unmarried man during the lifetime of the Prophet. I used to sleep in the mosque. Anyone who had a dream, would narrate it to the Prophet. (Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 87, No. 156)
.

Narated By Abu Salama: I used to see a dream which would make me sick till I heard Abu Qatada saying, “I too, used to see a dream which would make me sick …”
(Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 87, No. 168)
.
First 2 Ahadith show that narrating a dream to the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیھ وآلھ وسلم) was a common practice of Sahaba. The third Hadith shows that Sahaba used to narrate their dreams to each other.
